With Moana revitalized, the group plans to have Maui raise Motufetu so that Moana can touch it, as that is the only way to stop Nalo. Her crew repairs her raft, but when the group ventures forth to confront Nalo, they encounter a gigantic storm. Moana and her crew are attacked once again by the Kakamora, but soon learn they want what they do as well, leading to the Kakamora giving them a weapon to aid them, as well as the aid of a skilled coconut warrior Kotu. Moana is separated from her group and meets Matangi, a goddess who is the unwilling companion of Nalo.

Gone Fishing (

She mournfully confesses her incompetence and demands that the ocean chooses someone else to restore the heart. The ocean accepts Moana’s decision and takes the heart of Te Fiti back into the sea. As Moana breaks down in tears, she is visited by Gramma Tala’s spirit, who comforts and apologizes to her granddaughter for placing so much pressure on her.

Moana, wanting to get to the root of Maui’s self-doubt, tries to uncover the demigod’s backstory. This only angers Maui, which prompts Moana to confess her own feelings of self-doubt by revealing she is unsure why the ocean chose her. She further explains that despite this, she pushes herself in order to save her dying island, though she can only do so with Maui’s help. Moana offers to lend an ear for the demigod, and Maui eventually opens up to her by revealing he was born a human and was abandoned by his parents.

Deleted Scene: Discussing Moana’s Future

Looking out into the distance, she notices a glowing spiral on Te Kā’s chest and realizes that the lava demon is Te Fiti. Moana sings “Know Who You Are” to tame Te Kā, who finds peace in Moana’s words and turns herself into cooled lava rock. Moana places the heart into the spiral on Te Kā’s chest, and the lava monster’s crust crumbles away, revealing the lush and radiant Te Fiti. As a result, a lava demon known as Te Kā swore vengeance and plunged the world into a slow-burning darkness. The only hope for humanity lies in the hands of a fearless hero, who must journey to find Maui and have him return the heart to its rightful place. Her father, Chief Tui, claims there is no such darkness consuming the world, and stresses the law that forbids anyone on the island from traveling past the reef.
On April 3, 2023, Disney CEO Bob Iger and Dwayne Johnson shared the news during Disney’s annual shareholder’s meeting Monday, that a live-action remake of the 2016 animated film, Moana, would be in development. Dwayne Johnson is set to act as producer for the film, via his production company, Seven Bucks Productions. His co-star in the 2016 animated film, Auli’i Cravalho, who voiced the titular character, will executive produce with Scott Sheldon of Flynn Picture Co.. With her dying breath, she tells Moana to go save her people and gives her the necklace used to carry the heart. Moana departs using one of the sailboats found in the cave and departs with Heihei, a dumb rooster who has accidentally stowed away on the sailboat. She seeks to find Maui by following a constellation that looks like his fish hook, but a wave flips her sailboat and knocks her unconscious.
Maui reveals to Moana he became a demigod after his mortal parents abandoned him, the gods took pity on him and granted him powers. Unwilling to lose his hook again, Maui abandons Moana, who loses hope and tearfully asks the ocean to find someone else to restore the heart. The ocean obliges and takes the heart, but Tala’s spirit appears, inspiring Moana to find her true calling. Upon being unable to find Te Fiti, Moana realizes Te Kā is Te Fiti, but corrupted without her heart. The ocean clears a path for Moana, allowing her to return the heart to Te Fiti, who heals the ocean and islands of blight. Maui apologizes to Te Fiti, who fixes his hook as well as Moana’s boat before falling into a deep sleep and becoming an island.

Moana 2:

Upon escaping the cave and being helped by Ocean to desperately get back to her boat, Moana angrily confronted Maui, who continuously threw her off the boat, only for Ocean to repeatedly put her back on it. When Moana revealed the Heart of Te Fiti to Maui, she was amused to discover he was traumatized by the sight of it. She did not believe that anyone dangerous would appear if she showed the Heart around until the Kakamora revealed themselves before Moana and Maui. After successfully restoring the Heart of Te Fiti and saving Motunui, Moana began a new era of wayfinding where she was watched by her grandmother’s manta ray reincarnation, showing she was still being looked after by Tala through a different life form. Memorable characters, an empowering message and a catchy soundtrack combine to make this incredible movie.

Moana worried Heihei would eat the Heart again, but was surprised and proud that the chicken gave it back to her. After having an argument with Maui when his hook got damaged, causing Moana to give the Heart of Te Fiti back to the Ocean, Moana broke down in tears, feeling completely hopeless until Tala’s spirit appeared before her. Moana embraced and apologized to her grandmother who in return apologized for putting too much expectations on her shoulders. When Moana became hesitant in returning home, Tala began singing a song in which she explained the positive traits she saw in Moana while giving her words of wisdom. This caused Moana to accept the kind of individual she is by embracing both her love for the sea and her people. It also gave Moana the confidence she needed to finish her quest in stopping Te Kā’s curse.
Together the crew face Nalo with the humans distracting Nalo so that Maui can raise the island. The plan goes astray so Moana dives in and successfully touches the sunken island, breaking the curse. Maui and the ancestors (including her grandmother) revive Moana and turn her into a demigoddess herself. Unknown to her, Nalo has captured Matangi and is planning his revenge against Moana, with Tamatoa offering to aid him on it. Later, when Moana becomes chief, she and her father lead their people in voyaging across the seas, strengthening their relationship as her father finally lets go of his fear of traveling on the ocean. Growing up, Moana has a complicated relationship with her father whose laws forbidding sea travel conflicts Moana’s love for the sea.

Finding a deserted island to beach the raft on and regroup, it is there that Moana finds the remains of Tautai Vasa’s raft, indicating that he and those with him were killed by Nalo before they could reach Motufetu. Her morale restored, and with Loto having repaired their raft with materials from Tautai Vasa’s, they head for Motufetu, with the plan being for Maui to raise the island, then Moana will touch it, breaking the curse. The first film, Moana, was released on November 23, 2016 to critical acclaim and commercial success. It features the voice talents Moana of Auli’i Cravalho as Moana and Dwayne Johnson as Maui, as well as Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, Jemaine Clement, Nicole Scherzinger, and Alan Tudyk. The film was nominated for two Academy Awards, for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song, and won the Annie Award for Best Animated Feature. Meanwhile, Maui is seeking Motufetu himself since he had a previous quarrel with Nalo, but he is captured by Nalo’s enforcer, Matangi. Maui is reluctant to contact Moana, as he fears she may not survive if she comes to help. Moana and her crew are captured by the Kakamora, a tribe of savage coconut-like pirates that Moana previously encountered, who reveal that Nalo’s actions against Motufetu had caused them to be disconnected from their home island.
